It shouldn’t make a difference but it does, somehow food on a stick is just more fun, even more so when it’s been on a braai. Juicy meat cubes and vegetables (and yes, fruit works too) infused with smokiness, what could be better on a warm summer’s day?
Pork is often the forgotten child when it comes to sosaties. More’s the pity, because pork is so affordable. You could use fillet for making sosaties, but a cut that contains more fat is ideal for the braai – enter the versatile pork neck steak. Get your butcher to cut them really thick so you can thread giant chunks onto skewers along with pineapple, red onion and green pepper. Then use Cape Herb & Spice’s Smoky BBQ Braai Shaker Seasoningin your marinade and basting sauce to really up the braai ante.
4 thick-cut pork neck steaks
2 large red onions
1 large pineapple
2 green peppers
